Mike Omni – Goin’ Down

Goin' Down

I don’t do narcotics, but if I did, I’d imagine this is what it would be like.  The thick bass line commands the groove while the guitar chords reinforce it.  Shimmering dynamics accent the clarity of the composition.  Sit back, relax, and enjoy life to this.

Who would ever think a djembe and a piano would be so somber together?  The two play off each other until the orchestral hit locks the listener down.  The drum work is smooth and mellow to give the emotion a place to breathe.  Yet another beautifully crafted piece of piano work by Mike Omni.

Rich violins swells command the mood.  Piano chords add a tense but sweet gravity.  The drums pump hypnotically along.  All the listener can do is zone out and relax.

So after several days of travel and sickness, I slipped into a delicious bout of delirium.  Since I don’t do psychotropics, being delirious is the closest I’ll ever be to being “high”.  So, instead of analyzing the situation internally like I always do, I decided to go all musical about it.  Needless to say, I channeled my inner Busta Rhymes.

For example, I say “Fuck your IQ if its higher than two.”  My ability to give one fuck has hit an all time low.

Mike Omni – Pimpy Slap Bass

Mike Omni - Pimpy Slap Bass

The title says it all.  A smooth Rhodes progression and an aggressively dirty slap bass take turns calming you down.  A gliding analog synth dances playfully between the two.  The drums are simple to keep the mood Bluesy, mellow, and relaxed.

Mike Omni – Cutlass Trunk Anthem

Mike Omni - Cutlass Trunk Anthem

This brutal cacophony of crunk has been recently declassified as a torture technique by the CIA known as “MPC boarding”.  The kicks are audio curb stomps.  The thick saw wave is the grim determination for the synthetic pizzicati to dance around in.  The choral voices are a haunting seance that warn us we’ve been submerged in this musical manifestation of hatred for too long.

I posted a request in a forum I frequent to tell me what composition to make.  They gave me the key, the tempo, the lead instrument, and the mood they wanted.  Three hours later, this tense sounding piece was the result.

Mike Omni - All Your Bass Are Belong To Us

If in-the-pocket is where you like your music, then this Mike Omni tune is for you.  With an interesting amalgamation of driving breakbeats, dexterous funk bass, finger-tapped guitar hook, FX’ed out horn swells, and eerie Indian flute atmospheres, you’re left with a delightful little head-bobber that you might amp yourself up with on the way to your next big heist.

Mike Omni – Dem Be Bahtee

Mike Omni - Dem Be Bahtee

Hard beats and a bass so thick it’s offensive.  The eerie patch from Blue carves a line through the choppy reggae organs in this new one from Mike Omni.

Vincent dePaul – Civilian

Vincent dePaul - Civilian

The melancholy of Viktomajarmo’s composition drove my pessimistic vitriol outward.  As you can tell, I have little faith in my generation to do anything worthy of merit.
